Reading I
Is 35:4-7a
Say to all faint hearts, 'Courage! Do not be afraid. 'Look, your God is coming, vengeance is coming, the retribution of God; he is coming to save you.'
Then the eyes of the blind shall be opened, the ears of the deaf unsealed, then the lame shall leap like a deer and the tongues of the dumb sing for joy; for water gushes in the desert, streams in the wasteland, the scorched earth becomes a lake, the parched land springs of water.
Responsorial Psalm Ps 146:7, 8-9, 9-10
R. My soul, give praise to the Lord.
It is the Lord who keeps faith for ever,
who is just to those who are oppressed.
It is he who gives bread to the hungry,
the Lord, who sets prisoners free. R.
It is the Lord who gives sight to the blind,
who raises up those who are bowed down,
the Lord who loves the just,
the Lord, who protects the stranger. R.
The Lord upholds the widow and orphan,

Jas 2:1-5
My brothers, do not try to combine faith in Jesus Christ, our glorified Lord, with the making of distinctions between classes of people. Now suppose a man comes into your synagogue, beautifully dressed and with a gold ring on, and at the same time a poor man comes in, in shabby clothes, and you take notice of the well-dressed man, and say, 'Come this way to the best seats'; then you tell the poor man, 'Stand over there' or 'You can sit on the floor by my foot-rest.' Can't you see that you have used two different standards in your mind, and turned yourselves into judges, and corrupt judges at that?
Listen, my dear brothers: it was those who are poor according to the world that God chose, to be rich in faith and to be the heirs to the kingdom which he promised to those who love him.

Mk 7:31-37
Returning from the district of Tyre, Jesus went by way of Sidon towards the Sea of Galilee, right through the Decapolis region. And they brought him a deaf man who had an impediment in his speech; and they asked him to lay his hand on him. He took him aside in private, away from the crowd, put his fingers into the man's ears and touched his tongue with spittle. Then looking up to heaven he sighed; and he said to him, 'Ephphatha', that is, 'Be opened.' And his ears were opened, and the ligament of his tongue was loosened and he spoke clearly. And Jesus ordered them to tell no one about it, but the more he insisted, the more widely they published it. Their admiration was unbounded, 'He has done all things well,' they said, 'he makes the deaf hear and the dumb speak.'

Lecture du livre d’Isaïe
Dites aux gens qui s’affolent : “Prenez courage. ne craignez pas. Voici votre Dieu : c’est la vengeance qui vient, la revanche de Dieu. Il vient lui-même et va vous sauver.” Alors s’ouvriront les yeux des aveugles et les oreilles des sourds. Alors le boiteux bondira comme un cerf, et la bouche du muet criera de joie. L’eau jaillira dans le désert, des torrents dans les terres arides. Le pays torride se changera en lac, la terre de la soif, en eaux jaillissantes.
Psaume Ps 145, 7, 8, 9ab.10b
R. Je te chanterai, Seigneur, tant que je vivrai.
Le Seigneur fait justice aux opprimés ;
aux affamés il donne le pain ;
le Seigneur délie les enchaînés. R.
Le Seigneur ouvre les yeux des aveugles,
le Seigneur redresse les accablés,
le Seigneur aime les justes. R.
Le Seigneur protège l’étranger.

Deuxième lecture Jc 2, 1-5
Lecture de la lettre de saint Jacques
Mes frères, ne mêlez pas des considérations de personnes avec la foi en Jésus Christ, notre Seigneur de gloire. Imaginons que, dans votre assemblée, arrivent en même temps un homme aux vêtements rutilants, portant des bagues en or, et un homme pauvre aux vêtements sales. Vous vous tournez vers l’homme qui porte des vêtements rutilants et vous lui dites : “Prends ce siège, et installe-toi bien” ; et vous dites au pauvre : “Toi, reste là debout”, ou bien : “Assieds-toi par terre à mes pieds.” Agir ainsi, n’est-ce pas faire des différences entre vous, et juger selon des valeurs fausses ? Écoutez donc, mes frères bien-aimés ! Dieu, lui, n’a-t-il pas choisi ceux qui sont pauvres aux yeux du monde ? Il les a faits riches de la foi, il les a faits héritiers du Royaume qu’il a promis à ceux qui l’auront aimé.
Evangile Mc 7, 31-37
Évangile de Jésus Christ selon saint Marc
Jésus quitta la région de Tyr ; passant par Sidon, il prit la direction du lac de Galilée et alla en plein territoire de la Décapole. On lui amène un sourd-muet, et on le prie de poser la main sur lui. Jésus l’emmena à l’écart, loin de la foule, lui mit les doigts dans les oreilles, et, prenant de la salive, lui toucha la langue. Puis les yeux levés au ciel, il soupira et lui dit : “Effata !”, c’est-à-dire : “Ouvre-toi.” Ses oreilles s’ouvrirent ; aussitôt sa langue se délia, et il parlait correctement. Alors Jésus recommanda de n’en rien dire à personne ; mais plus il leur recommandait plus ils le proclamaient. Très vivement frappés, ils disaient : “Tout ce qu’il fait est admirable : il fait entendre les sourds et parler les muets.”

Lesung aus dem Buch Jesaja
Sagt den Verzagten: Habt Mut, fürchtet euch nicht! Seht, hier ist euer Gott! Die Rache Gottes wird kommen und seine Vergeltung; er selbst wird kommen und euch erretten. Dann werden die Augen der Blinden geöffnet, auch die Ohren der Tauben sind wieder offen. Dann springt der Lahme wie ein Hirsch, die Zunge des Stummen jauchzt auf. In der Wüste brechen Quellen hervor, und Bäche fließen in der Steppe. Der glühende Sand wird zum Teich und das durstigeLand zu sprudelnden Quellen.

R Lobe den Herrn, meine Seele!
Der Herr hat Himmel und Erde gemacht,
das Meer und alle Geschöpfe;
er hält ewig die Treue.

2. Lesung Jak 2, 1-5

Meine Brüder, haltet den Glauben an unseren Herrn Jesus Christus, den Herrn der Herrlichkeit, frei von jedem Ansehen der Person. Wenn in eure Versammlung ein Mann mit goldenen Ringen und prächtiger Kleidung kommt, und zugleich kommt ein Armer in schmutziger Kleidung, und ihr blickt auf den Mann in der prächtigen Kleidung und sagt: Setz dich hier auf den guten Platz!, und zu dem Armen sagt ihr: Du kannst dort stehen!, oder: Setz dich zu meinen Füßen! - macht ihr dann nicht untereinander Unterschiede und fällt Urteile aufgrund verwerflicher Überlegungen? Hört, meine geliebten Brüder: Hat Gott nicht die Armen in der Welt auserwählt, um sie durch den Glauben reich und zu Erben des Königreichs zu machen, das er denen verheißen hat, die ihn lieben?
Evangelium Mk 7, 31-37
Aus dem heiligen Evangelium nach Markus
Jesus verließ das Gebiet von Tyrus wieder und kam über Sidon an den See von Galiläa, mitten in das Gebiet der Dekapolis. Da brachte man einen Taubstummen zu Jesus und bat ihn, er möge ihn berühren. Er nahm ihn beiseite, von der Menge weg, legte ihm die Finger in die Ohren und berührte dann die Zunge des Mannes mit Speichel; danach blickte er zum Himmel auf, seufzte und sagte zu dem Taubstummen: Effata!, das heißt: Öffne dich! Sogleich öffneten sich seine Ohren, seine Zunge wurde von ihrer Fessel befreit, und er konnte richtig reden. Jesus verbot ihnen, jemand davon zu erzählen. Doch je mehr er es ihnen verbot, desto mehr machten sie es bekannt. Außer sich vor Staunen sagten sie: Er hat alles gut gemacht; er macht, dass die Tauben hören und die Stummen sprechen.
