Reading 1

Zep 3:14-18a

Shout for joy, O daughter Zion!

Sing joyfully, O Israel!

Be glad and exult with all your heart,

O daughter Jerusalem!

The LORD has removed the judgment against you

he has turned away your enemies;

the King of Israel, the LORD, is in your midst,

you have no further misfortune to fear.

On that day, it shall be said to Jerusalem:

Fear not, O Zion, be not discouraged!

The LORD, your God, is in your midst,

a mighty savior;

he will rejoice over you with gladness,

and renew you in his love,

he will sing joyfully because of you,

as one sings at festivals.

God indeed is my savior;

I am confident and unafraid.

My strength and my courage is the LORD,

Phil 4:4-7

Brothers and sisters:

Rejoice in the Lord always.

I shall say it again: rejoice!

Your kindness should be known to all.

The Lord is near.

Have no anxiety at all, but in everything,

by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving,

make your requests known to God.

Then the peace of God that surpasses all understanding

will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.

Gospel

Lk 3:10-18

The crowds asked John the Baptist,

“What should we do?”

He said to them in reply,

“Whoever has two cloaks

should share with the person who has none.

And whoever has food should do likewise.”

Even tax collectors came to be baptized and they said to him,

“Teacher, what should we do?”

He answered them,

“Stop collecting more than what is prescribed.”

Soldiers also asked him,

“And what is it that we should do?”

He told them,

“Do not practice extortion,

do not falsely accuse anyone,

and be satisfied with your wages.”

Now the people were filled with expectation,

and all were asking in their hearts

whether John might be the Christ.

John answered them all, saying,

“I am baptizing you with water,

but one mightier than I is coming.

I am not worthy to loosen the thongs of his sandals.

He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.

His winnowing fan is in his hand to clear his threshing floor

and to gather the wheat into his barn,

but the chaff he will burn with unquenchable fire.”

Exhorting them in many other ways,

he preached good news to the people.

Première Lecture

Lecture du livre de Sophonie (3, 14-18a)

Pousse des cris de joie, fille de Sion ! éclate en ovations, Israël ! Réjouis-toi, tressaille d’allégresse, fille de Jérusalem! Le Seigneur a écarté tes accusateurs, il a fait rebrousser chemin à ton ennemi ! Le roi d’Israël, le Seigneur, est en toi. Tu n’as plus à craindre le malheur. Ce jour-là, on dira à Jérusalem : “Ne crains pas, Sion ! ne laisse pas tes mains défaillir ! Le Seigneur ton Dieu est en toi, c’est lui, le héros qui apporte le salut. Il aura en toi sa joie et son allégresse, il te renouvellera par son amour ; il dansera pour toi avec des cris de joie, comme aux jours de fête.”

R.- Laissons éclater notre joie : Dieu est au milieu de nous.

Voici le Dieu qui me sauve :

Deuxième lecture

Lecture de la lettre de saint Paul Apôtre aux Philippiens (4, 4-7)

Frères, soyez toujours dans la joie du Seigneur ; laissez-moi vous le redire : soyez dans la joie. Que votre sérénité soit connue de tous les hommes. Le Seigneur est proche. Ne soyez inquiets de rien, mais, en toute circonstance, dans l’action de grâce priez et suppliez pour faire connaître à Dieu vos demandes. Et la paix de Dieu, qui dépasse tout ce qu’on peut imaginer gardera votre cœur et votre intelligence dans le Christ Jésus.

Évangile de Jésus Christ selon saint Luc (3, 10-18)

Les foules qui venaient se faire baptiser par Jean lui demandaient : “Que devons-nous faire ?” Jean leur répondait : “Celui qui a deux vêtements, qu’il partage avec celui qui n’en a pas ; et celui qui a de quoi manger, qu’il fasse de même !” Des publicains (collecteurs d’impôts) vinrent aussi se faire baptiser et lui dirent : “Maître, que devons-nous faire ?” Il leur répondit : “N’exigez rien de plus que ce qui vous est fixé.” À leur tour, des soldats lui demandaient : “Et nous, que devons-nous faire ?” Il leur répondit : “Ne faites ni violence ni tort à personne ; et contentez-vous de votre solde.” Or, le peuple était en attente, et tous se demandaient en eux-mêmes si Jean n’était pas le Messie. Jean s’adressa alors à tous : “Moi, je vous baptise avec de l’eau ; mais il vient, celui qui est plus puissant que moi. Je ne suis pas digne de défaire la courroie de ses sandales. Lui vous baptisera dans l’Esprit Saint et dans le feu. Il tient à la main la pelle à vanner pour nettoyer son aire à battre le blé, et il amassera le grain dans son grenier ; quant à la paille, il la brûlera dans un feu qui ne s’éteint pas.” Par ces exhortations et bien d’autres encore, il annonçait au peuple la Bonne Nouvelle.

1. Lesung Zef 3, 14-17 (14-18a)

Lesung aus dem Buch Zefanja

Juble, Tochter Zion! Jauchze, Israel! Freu dich, und frohlocke von ganzem Herzen, Tochter Jerusalem!

Der Herr hat das Urteil gegen dich aufgehoben und deine Feinde zur Umkehr gezwungen. Der König Israels, der Herr, ist in deiner Mitte; du hast kein Unheil mehr zu fürchten.

An jenem Tag wird man zu Jerusalem sagen: Fürchte dich nicht, Zion! Lass die Hände nicht sinken!

Der Herr, dein Gott, ist in deiner Mitte, ein Held, der Rettung bringt. Er freut sich und jubelt über dich, er erneuert seine Liebe zu dir, er jubelt über dich und frohlockt, wie man frohlockt an einem Festtag.

Antwortpsalm Jes 12, 2.3 u. 4bcd.5-6 (R: vgl. 6)

R.- Freut euch und jubelt; in eurer Mitte ist der Herr.

Gott ist meine Rettung;

2. Lesung Phil 4, 4-7

Lesung aus dem Brief des Apostels Paulus an die Philipper

Freut euch im Herrn zu jeder Zeit! Noch einmal sage ich: Freut euch! Eure Güte werde allen Menschen bekannt. Der Herr ist nahe.

Sorgt euch um nichts, sondern bringt in jeder Lage betend und flehend eure Bitten mit Dank vor Gott!

Und der Friede Gottes, der alles Verstehen übersteigt, wird eure Herzen und eure Gedanken in der Gemeinschaft mit Christus Jesus bewahren.

Evangelium Lk 3, 10-18

Aus dem heiligen Evangelium nach Lukas

Da fragten ihn die Leute: Was sollen wir also tun? Er antwortete ihnen: Wer zwei Gewänder hat, der gebe eines davon dem, der keines hat, und wer zu essen hat, der handle ebenso.

Es kamen auch Zöllner zu ihm, um sich taufen zu lassen, und fragten: Meister, was sollen wir tun?

Er sagte zu ihnen: Verlangt nicht mehr, als festgesetzt ist.

Auch Soldaten fragten ihn: Was sollen denn wir tun? Und er sagte zu ihnen: Misshandelt niemand, erpresst niemand, begnügt euch mit eurem Sold!

Das Volk war voll Erwartung, und alle überlegten im Stillen, ob Johannes nicht vielleicht selbst der Messias sei.

Doch Johannes gab ihnen allen zur Antwort: Ich taufe euch nur mit Wasser. Es kommt aber einer, der stärker ist als ich, und ich bin es nicht wert, ihm die Schuhe aufzuschnüren. Er wird euch mit dem Heiligen Geist und mit Feuer taufen.

Schon hält er die Schaufel in der Hand, um die Spreu vom Weizen zu trennen und den Weizen in seine Scheune zu bringen; die Spreu aber wird er in nie erlöschendem Feuer verbrennen. Mit diesen und vielen anderen Worten ermahnte er das Volk in seiner Predigt.
