First Reading

Deuteronomy 26:4-10

Moses said to the people: 'The priest shall then take the pannier from your hand and lay it before the altar of the Lord your God. Then, in the sight of the Lord your God, you must make this pronouncement:

"My father was a wandering Aramaean. He went down into Egypt to find refuge there, few in numbers; but there he became a nation, great, mighty, and strong. The Egyptians ill-treated us, they gave us no peace and inflicted harsh slavery on us. But we called on the Lord the God of our fathers. The Lord heard our voice and saw our misery, our toil and our oppression; and the Lord brought us out of Egypt with mighty hand and outstretched arm, with great terror, and with signs and wonders. He brought us here and gave us this land, a land where milk and honey flow. Here then I bring the first-fruits of the produce of the soil that you, the Lord, have given me". 'You must then lay them before the Lord your God, and bow down in the sight of the Lord your God.'

Psalm 90:1-2.10-15

R: Be with me, O Lord, in my distress.

He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High

and abides in the shade of the Almighty

says to the Lord: 'My refuge,

my stronghold, my God in whom I trust!'

Upon you no evil shall fall,

no plague approach where you dwell. R.-

For you has he commanded his angels,

to keep you in all your ways.

They shall bear you upon their hands

lest you strike your foot against a stone. R.-

On the lion and the viper you will tread

and trample the young lion and the dragon.

His love he set on me, so I will rescue him;

protect him for he knows my name.

When he calls I shall answer: 'I am with you.'

I will save him in distress and give him glory. R.-

Second Reading

Romans 10:8-13

Scripture says: The word, that is the faith we proclaim, is very near to you, it is on your lips and in your heart. If your lips confess that Jesus is Lord and if you believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, then you will be saved. By believing from the heart you are made righteous; by confessing with your lips you are saved. When scripture says: those who believe in him will have no cause for shame, it makes no distinction between Jew and Greek: all belong to the same Lord who is rich enough, however many ask his help, for everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.

Gospel

Luke 4:1-13

Filled with the Holy Spirit, Jesus left the Jordan and was led by the Spirit through the wilderness, being tempted there by the devil for forty days. During that time he ate nothing and at the end he was hungry. Then the devil said to him, 'If you are the Son of God, tell this stone to turn into a loaf.' But Jesus replied, 'Scripture says: Man does not live on bread alone.'

Then leading him to a height, the devil showed him in a moment of time all the kingdoms of the world and said to him, 'I will give you all this power and the glory of these kingdoms, for it has been committed to me and I give it to anyone I choose. Worship me, then, and it shall all be yours.' But Jesus answered him, 'Scripture says:

You must worship the Lord your God, and serve him alone.'

Then he led him to Jerusalem and made him stand on the parapet of the Temple. 'If you are

the Son of God,' he said to him, 'throw yourself down from here, for scripture says:

He will put his angels in charge of you to guard you, and again:

They will hold you up on their hands in case you hurt your foot against a stone.'

But Jesus answered him, 'It has been said:

You must not put the Lord your God to the test.'

Having exhausted all these ways of tempting him, the devil left him, to return at the appointed

time.

Première Lecture

Lecture du livre du Deutéronome (26, 4-10)

Moïse disait au peuple d’Israël : “Lorsque tu présenteras les prémices de tes récoltes, le prêtre recevra de tes mains la corbeille et la déposera devant l’autel du Seigneur ton Dieu. Tu prononceras ces paroles devant le Seigneur ton Dieu : ‘Mon père était un Araméen vagabond, qui descendit en Égypte : il y vécut en immigré avec son petit clan. C’est là qu’il est devenu une grande nation, puissante et nombreuse. Les Égyptiens nous ont maltraités, et réduits à la pauvreté ; ils nous ont imposé un dur esclavage. Nous avons crié vers le Seigneur, le Dieu de nos pères. Il a entendu notre voix, il a vu que nous étions pauvres, malheureux, opprimés. Le Seigneur nous a fait sortir d’Égypte par la force de sa main et la vigueur de son bras, par des actions terrifiantes, des signes et des prodiges. Il nous a conduits dans ce lieu et nous a donné ce pays, un pays ruisselant de lait et de miel.

Et voici maintenant que j’apporte les prémices des produits du sol que tu m’as donné, Seigneur.’”

Quand je me tiens sous l’abri du Très-Haut

et repose à l’ombre du Puissant

je dis au Seigneur : “Mon refuge,

mon rempart, mon Dieu, dont je suis sûr !” R.-

Le malheur ne pourra te toucher,

ni le danger, approcher de ta demeure :

il donne mission à ses anges

tu seras sauvé. R.-

Ils te porteront sur leurs mains

pour que ton pied ne heurte les pierres ;

Deuxième Lecture

Lecture de la lettre de saint Paul Apôtre aux Romains (10, 8-13)

Frères, nous lisons dans l’Écriture : La Parole est près de toi, elle est dans ta bouche et dans ton cœur. Cette Parole, c’est le message de la foi que nous proclamons. Donc, si tu affirmes de ta bouche que Jésus est Seigneur, si tu crois dans ton cœur que Dieu l’a ressuscité d’entre les morts, alors tu seras sauvé. Celui qui croit du fond de son cœur devient juste ; celui qui, de sa bouche, affirme sa foi parvient au salut. En effet, l’Écriture dit : Lors du jugement, aucun de ceux qui croient en lui n’aura à le regretter. Ainsi, entre les Juifs et les païens, il n’y a pas de différence : tous ont le même Seigneur, généreux envers tous ceux qui l’invoquent. Il est écrit en effet : “Tous ceux qui invoqueront le nom du Seigneur seront sauvés.”

Évangile de Jésus Christ selon saint Luc (4, 1-13)

Après son baptême, Jésus, rempli de l’Esprit Saint quitta les bords du Jourdain; il fut conduit par l’Esprit à travers le désert où, pendant quarante jours, il fut mis à l’épreuve par le démon. Il ne mangea rien durant ces jours-là, et, quand ce temps fut écoulé, il eut faim. Le démon lui dit alors : “Si tu es le Fils de Dieu, ordonne à cette pierre de devenir du pain.” Jésus répondit : “Il est écrit : Ce n’est pas seulement de pain que l’homme doit vivre.” Le démon l’emmena alors plus haut, et lui fit voir d’un seul regard tous les royaumes de la terre. Il lui dit : “Je te donnerai tout ce pouvoir, et la gloire de ces royaumes, car cela m’appartient et je le donne à qui je veux. Toi donc, si tu te prosternes devant moi, tu auras tout cela.” Jésus lui répondit : “Il est écrit : Tu te prosterneras devant le Seigneur ton Dieu, et c’est lui seul que tu adoreras.”

Puis le démon le conduisit à Jérusalem, il le plaça au sommet du Temple et lui dit : “Si tu es le Fils de Dieu, jette-toi en bas ; car il est écrit : Il donnera pour toi à ses anges l’ordre de te garder ; et encore : Ils te porteront sur leurs mains, de peur que ton pied ne heurte une pierre.” Jésus répondit : “Il est dit : “Tu ne mettras pas à l’épreuve le Seigneur ton Dieu.”

Ayant ainsi épuisé toutes les formes de tentation, le démon s’éloigna de Jésus jusqu’au moment fixé.

ERSTE Lesung Dtn 26, 4-10

Lesung aus dem Buch Deuteronomium

In jenen Tagen sprach Mose zum Volk:

Wenn du die ersten Erträge von den Früchten des Landes darbringst, dann soll der Priester den Korb aus deiner Hand entgegennehmen und ihn vor den Altar des Herrn, deines Gottes, stellen.

Du aber sollst vor dem Herrn, deinem Gott, folgendes Bekenntnis ablegen: Mein Vater war ein heimatloser Aramäer. Er zog nach Ägypten, lebte dort als Fremder mit wenigen Leuten und wurde dort zu einem großen, mächtigen und zahlreichen Volk.

Die Ägypter behandelten uns schlecht, machten uns rechtlos und legten uns harte Fronarbeit auf.

Wir schrien zum Herrn, dem Gott unserer Väter, und der Herr hörte unser Schreien und sah unsere Rechtlosigkeit, unsere Arbeitslast und unsere Bedrängnis.

Der Herr führte uns mit starker Hand und hoch erhobenem Arm, unter großem Schrecken, unter Zeichen und Wundern aus Ägypten, 9er brachte uns an diese Stätte und gab uns dieses Land, ein Land, in dem Milch und Honig fließen.

Und siehe, nun bringe ich hier die ersten Erträge von den Früchten des Landes, das du mir gegeben hast, Herr. Wenn du den Korb vor den Herrn, deinen Gott, gestellt hast, sollst du dich vor dem Herrn, deinem Gott, niederwerfen.

Antwortpsalm Ps 91 (90), 1-2.10-11.12-13.14-15 (R: vgl. 15b)

R Herr, sei bei mir in der Not. -

Wer im Schutz des Höchsten wohnt

und ruht im Schatten des Allmächtigen,

der sagt zum Herrn: „Du bist für mich Zuflucht und Burg,

mein Gott, dem ich vertraue.“ - (R)

Dir begegnet kein Unheil,

kein Unglück naht sich deinem Zelt.

Denn er befiehlt seinen Engeln,

dich zu behüten auf all deinen Wegen. - (R)

Sie tragen dich auf ihren Händen,

damit dein Fuß nicht an einen Stein stößt;

du schreitest über Löwen und Nattern,

ZWEITE Lesung Röm 10, 8-13

Lesung aus dem ersten Brief des Apostels Paulus an die Römer

Brüder!

Was sagt die Schrift? Das Wort ist dir nahe, es ist in deinem Mund und in deinem Herzen. Gemeint ist das Wort des Glaubens, das wir verkündigen; denn wenn du mit deinem Mund bekennst: „Jesus ist der Herr“ und in deinem Herzen glaubst: „Gott hat ihn von den Toten auferweckt“, so wirst du gerettet werden.

Wer mit dem Herzen glaubt und mit dem Mund bekennt, wird Gerechtigkeit und Heil erlangen.

Denn die Schrift sagt: Wer an ihn glaubt, wird nicht zugrunde gehen.

Darin gibt es keinen Unterschied zwischen Juden und Griechen. Alle haben denselben Herrn; aus seinem Reichtum beschenkt er alle, die ihn anrufen.

Denn jeder, der den Namen des Herrn anruft, wird gerettet werden.

Evangelium Lk 4, 1-13

Aus dem heiligen Evangelium nach Lukas

In jener Zeit 1verließ Jesus, erfüllt vom Heiligen Geist, die Jordangegend. Darauf führte ihn der Geist vierzig Tage lang in der Wüste umher, 2und dabei wurde Jesus vom Teufel in Versuchung geführt. Die ganze Zeit über aß er nichts; als aber die vierzig Tage vorüber waren, hatte er Hunger.

Da sagte der Teufel zu ihm: Wenn du Gottes Sohn bist, so befiehl diesem Stein, zu Brot zu werden.

Jesus antwortete ihm: In der Schrift heißt es: Der Mensch lebt nicht nur von Brot.

Da führte ihn der Teufel auf einen Berg hinauf und zeigte ihm in einem einzigen Augenblick alle Reiche der Erde.

Und er sagte zu ihm: All die Macht und Herrlichkeit dieser Reiche will ich dir geben; denn sie sind mir überlassen, und ich gebe sie, wem ich will.

Wenn du dich vor mir niederwirfst und mich anbetest, wird dir alles gehören.

Jesus antwortete ihm: In der Schrift steht: Vor dem Herrn, deinem Gott, sollst du dich niederwerfen und ihm allein dienen.

Darauf führte ihn der Teufel nach Jerusalem, stellte ihn oben auf den Tempel und sagte zu ihm: Wenn du Gottes Sohn bist, so stürz dich von hier hinab; denn es heißt in der Schrift: Seinen Engeln befiehlt er, dich zu behüten; und: Sie werden dich auf ihren Händen tragen, damit dein Fuß nicht an einen Stein stößt.

Da antwortete ihm Jesus: Die Schrift sagt: Du sollst den Herrn, deinen Gott, nicht auf die Probe stellen.

Nach diesen Versuchungen ließ der Teufel für eine gewisse Zeit von ihm ab.
